Born somewhere during the late 70s, Nerine Dorman
has been writing since she could hold onto a pen. Apart from writing
horror and fantasy, she is currently employed as a sub-editor at
a newspaper publisher and runs a writers' guild for science fiction,
fantasy and horror writers in her home town, Cape Town. She also
edits and lays out The Egyptian Society of South Africa's quarterly
newsletter, SHEMU. She has worked in magazine publishing and marketing
communications, doing
everything from writing articles, laying out pages and reviewing
hotels no mere mortal would afford to stay at, to print production.
She edits genre fiction on a freelance basis.
She is a published travel writer, often contributing
to the Weekend Argus Travel section, and much of this editorial
is available on www.ioltravel.co.za
She conducts author interviews with fantasy authors. She writes
reviews for genre fiction that appear in the Cape Times books page
from time to time.
Her interests include classical guitar, photography,
reading, magic, Egypt, art, The Owl House, nature, gardening, watching
horror movies and travelling. From time to time she's modelled for
photographers. She currently lives with her photographer husband
near a nature reserve by Cape Point with two dogs, two cats and
two goldfish. She has no plans of adding to the human overpopulation
and sometimes has to fend off marauding gangs of baboons armed only
with a broomstick.
